- Manchester United will face rivals Man City during the weekend
- City are the current EPL leaders with 43 points, 8 more than United who are second
- Mourinho says his focus is now on the derby after his side qualified for the Champions League round of 16
- He blasted Guardiola for playing mind games ahead of the tie
Manchester United will be hoping to narrow Manchester City’s lead to five points when the two teams clash on Sunday, December 10. The Red Devils will be coming into this fixture in high spirits after their 3-1 comfortable win against EPL giants Arsenal last weekend.
And now with just four days to the derby, United manager Jose Mourinho has blasted his Man City counterpart Pep Guardiola for playing minds games ahead of the fixture. Guardiola suggested that star midfielder David Silva is a doubt for the Manchester derby, asserting that the player ‘is having problems.’
Silva has not traveled with the squad that will be facing Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in their last Group F Champions League fixture.
However, in a quick rejoinder, Mourinho hit out at Guardiola for engaging in mind games, just like Arsene Wenger, who claimed Alexandre Lacazette had no chance of facing United – only for him to start.
Asked about United’s injuries, Mourinho said: “You want the truth? What do you want? “Eric Bailly has no chance for the weekend, Phil Jones a chance. Marouane Fellaini a chance, Zlatan a big chance. “Nemanja Matic is injured but will play for sure. I’m telling the truth! It’s the truth. No stories of Lacazatte or David Silva. All the truth.
